Selling Hair Hair And Bags
Yes, I already have a business license for my beauty salon. If I want to begin selling “flea market” items ie refurbished furniture, home decorating item etc do I need a Seller’s permit?

A: Yes, in MS, all businesses that sell taxable services or products need a seller's permit.

The seller's permit is also called a sales tax ID, a state ID (there are 2 state IDs and the other one is called a state employer ID but you most likely need the sales tax ID from the state). To get people to work on your business anytime within 30 days of starting your business subjects you're having to get a Federal EIN and a State EIN(employer identification number).

On the other hand, you will also need a federal tax ID if you are a partnership or independent contractor, or a corporation or an LLC. It is always a good idea to obtain a federal tax ID as a sole proprietor and use it as a business tax ID in the place of a social security number.

FAQs - More...
I'm looking for information on getting a seller's permit. Furthermore, I'm trying to sell hair extensions.

I need to know the permit and license required for hair dye products. I will buy wholesale hair and sell it to the public or all 50 states. My client has a cosmetology school, and she was told by the wholesale company that she needed a resale certificate.

Answer: Hi Chel, the permit and licenses you need for selling hair are the following:

You need a business license, a seller's permit, a federal EIN and a registration of your business name "Chel's Selected Hair," because it is a trade name.

You can register your business name with a DBA, LLC or corporation. Finally, if you are hiring, you need a state EIN as well.
On getting a seller's permit, you can obtain on here. Yes, your client needs a resale certificate. The resale form must be used when the holder of a seller's permit purchases hair that he will later resell. This allows the seller's permit holder not to be charged sales tax. Remember that if you are purchasing something for your own use that you will not resell, you must pay the sales taxes due.

Question: I will be selling my hair products at home in the United States. I am hoping to start my own website, beauty bar, and sell nationwide. Can I form an LLC on your site? I am selling hair online and eventually will have a store location to sell them. I'm just selling them IDK how to put them on yet the Trade name is like my logo right hair extension and shoes clothes lashes, and it's an online boutique? My business name is "Sell Them Dead Hair that Looks Real".
Answer: To sell hair, whether from a store, online or as a boutique, you need a sales tax ID also called a seller's permit for that and as a business, a business license and an EIN. So, you need at least a DBA, LLC or corporation, because your business name "Sell Them Dead Hair that Looks Real" has to be registered with one of these: LLC, DBA, or Corporation.

You can form an LLC to sell hair here online. An LLC requires an LLC certificate and an operating agreement. Note: Selling here requires a seller's permit.

Setting up your business

First, check the Legal and Tax Business Structure To set up and register your business, it does not matter whether your business is an online, home, store, concession stand or a mobile cart, you will have to first select a business type entity from these tax structures:

Namely, from the sole owner/proprietor, partnership, LLC or corporation. It does not matter which business entity you choose as far as a General Business License is concerned because all entities need a business license and that is because all businesses need, well, a business license. (Note that this is not a specific license to your type of business, it is a BUSINESS license) as well. Using a company trade name subjects you to having to file a DBA.

For instance, if your name is Donald Trump, and you do business as Best Items By Tramp, the Tramp name must be registered with a DBA Doing Business As certificate because it is not your full legal name (namely, Donald Tramp.

Also, note that whatever item that you sell or lease, and it is an item that can be touched (i.e., tangible items such as equipment, jewelry, merchandise, electronics, prepared food) requires a sales ID (Seller's permit) to either buy or sell the items or products wholesale from companies that sell them in bulk or sell them retail directly to consumers.

However, you will still need other filings, business tax registrations, such as permits, a fictitious business name, DBA, and tax IDs as described above. For example, if you want to be an LLC, you must obtain an LLC certificate and an LLC operating agreement as well as an EIN.

You need the EIN to be the LLC ID in addition to being an Employer ID if you hire workers. Finally, even sole proprietors working from home or just online can set up an LLC or incorporate, in which case, they will not need to register the trade name with a DBA because the LLC or Corporation name will be the legal name of the business.

DBA stands for Doing Business As, and it is also called a fictitious, assumed, trade firm or business certificate trade name.

She does not sell products. The products she purchases are to use on clients' hair (i.e. shampoo, conditioner, etc.) She also purchases items for the school. Does she need a resale certificate? Client has a business license and is an S corp. Do they need a resale license?
Hi, I was wondering what type of license I will need to sell my own hair from my own brand in Florida? I am trying to start a hair business by selling extensions that I buy from wholesale sellers.
I just need to know the necessary certifications and license. Not only that, but I was wondering if there are any regulations.

I was wondering if there are any regulations in Seguin, Texas to open a hair braiding shop? Opening a salon in Florida commercial property, I'm looking for information on getting a seller's permit. I'm tying to wholesale hair extensions, I need to know the permit and license required for hair dye products in India.
